The Beverly Shores
depot, designed by
Arthur
Gerber for Samuel Insull, the railroad magnate, follows the Spanish Colonial
Revival style of architecture. The building, constructed in 1928,
consisted of a waiting room (still in use), ticket office and a five room
apartment for the ticket agent. A twin to this building, the Briergate
depot, stands in Highland Park. The era of
interurban electric trains has all but ended. The South Shore Line is
one of the last in use.
